Lake Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination. The waters of the Lake draw a great range of game to these shores. Giraffes, Buffalo, Colobus monkeys and hippos. Hell’s Gate National Park and Crescent Island lies beside the Lake.

The Lake shores is home to a profusion of plains game and bird life. Walking is permitted, making it ideal for hiking, biking, and rock climbing. Boat trips on the Lake are widely available and is a great way to spend an afternoon or morning as you watch the Fish Eagle high over the Lake preying on the fish.

Lake Nakuru bird life is world-renowned and offers over 400 species of both aquatic and terrestrial bird. It is also known as bird watcher’s paradise. Wild animals include: Black and White Rhino, buffalo, leopard, lion, Rothschild’s giraffe, White and Black Colobus monkey, eland, steenbok, impala, Chandlers Reed buck, dik-dik, rock hyrax, klipspringer, hippo and clawless otter.

Lake Elementaita attracts many visiting flamingo and the shores are grazed by zebra, gazelle, eland and families of warthog. At the southern end of the Lake lies the “Kekopey” hot springs, which the Tilapia grahami breed. The springs are very popular for bathing. The local Maasai’s claim that it can cure many diseases. The reed beds nearby are fishing grounds for night herons and pelicans. Nearby is the Kariandusi Museum, at an important prehistoric site where stone hand axes and cleavers were discovered in 1929 by Louis Leakey.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart Nairobi at 0800 Hours with picnic lunch boxes for Lake Nakuru National Park with a brief stopover at the Rift Valley view-point for a morning view of the Majestic Mt. Longonot and the breath-taking view of the Rift Valley.

Arrive at the park at 1100 Hours and proceed directly on a game-drive. 1300 Hours, enjoy your picnic lunch at the Baboon Cliff View-point. After lunch proceed on another game drive. Lake Nakuru bird life is world-renowned and offers over 400 species of both aquatic and terrestrial bird. It is also known as bird watcher’s paradise.

Animals include: Black and White Rhino, buffalo, leopard, lion, Rothschild’s giraffe, White and Black Colobus monkey, eland, steinbok, impala, Chandlers Reed buck, dik dik, rock hyrax, klipspringer, hippo and clawless otter.1700 Hours exit the park and drive to Lake Elementaita.

Day 2: Elementaita – Nairobi

Explore Lake Elementaita – Drive to Lake Naivasha

Enjoy an early morning walk along Lake Elementaita with great chances of seeing lots of water birds. Visit the hot springs and return to the camp for breakfast.

After breakfast depart for Lake Naivasha with packed lunch. Enjoy boat rides on the lake with chances of seeing Hippos and lots of birds. Depart for Nairobi arriving at 1800 Hours.
